Hair Care
The chief constituent of hair is tough, insoluble protein called keratin. Unfortunately, damage due to split-ends, sun exposure and environmental pollutants can threaten the structural integrity of hair. Often, even the chemicals found in hair care products contribute to this damage. Enzymes are safe and effective supplements that can be used to remove excessive oiliness, enhance natural hair color, shine and softness, and restore hair damage due to split ends, sun exposure and environmental pollutants.

Enzymes can also be used to help prevent hair loss. Our special combinations of enzymes like SEBCareHR 413 L, SEBCareHR 413 P, SEBCareHR 414 L and SEBCareHR 414 P can be used to remove contaminants like dust, dead cells, and excessive oil, which often clog the hair follicle openings. This clogging restricts blood supply to the follicle opening, often causing hair loss. Using our special blends in hair care formulations can clean the scalp, thereby increasing blood circulation, and leading to healthy keratin formation and less hair loss.

Of course, there are times when hair growth is unwanted. Specialty Enzymes’ proteolytic plant enzymes are used in products to prevent the growth of unwanted hair. These enzymes naturally prevent the growth of unwanted hair by breaking down the proteins in the hair. They work on the hair follicles to weaken them, thereby preventing hair re-growth.

Oral Care
Enzymes are now being used in oral care products like toothpaste, mouthwash, and denture cleaning tablets and solutions to prevent tooth decay, eliminate odor and whiten teeth.

The primary cause of plaque is leftover sugar in the mouth. When there is an excess of sugar in the mouth, it decomposes on teeth, causing an acid that breaks down enamel and decays teeth.

Furthermore, decay often causes an odor in the mouth and plaque causes discoloration on teeth. Brushing and mouthwash are used to prevent this, but often some plaque is left overlooked. Specialty Enzymes offers SEBCareOR 115L, which can be added to oral care products to break down excessive sugar in the mouth, thus preventing tooth decay, odor and discoloration.

Specialty Enzymes also has proteolytic enzyme blends to break down the protein build up on teeth and gums - SEBCareOR 104 B, SEBCareOR 114 L and SEBCareOR 114 P. These are special blends of proteolytic enzymes, which can be used to prevent plaque development on teeth and gums and help whiten teeth.

Skin Care
Enzymes are becoming more and more popular for skin care because they give excellent results and are often effective substitutions for harsh chemicals. Enzymes are now used in various formulations for exfoliation, keeping skin soft and removing scars, wrinkles, and stretch marks.

Exfoliation is the process of removing the dull, dead cells, made of the protein keratin, on the surface layer of the skin. Alpha-hydroxy acids present in exfoliation treatments loosen the keratin bond between the dead cells and the inner soft layer of skin. Our proteolytic enzyme blends like SoftSEB-SK 3131 L, SoftSEB-SK 3131 P, SoftSEB-SK 320 L and SoftSEB-SK 320 P, further help in this process by breaking down the keratin in dead cells, thus gently peeling off the dead outer layer without damaging the inner living cells. This process rejuvenates the skin and improves skin texture, thereby making it soft and silky.

Our other blends, like SEBCareSK 309 L, are used in skin care products to remove excessive oil on skin, leaving it non-oily, soft and silky.

Enzymes are also used in skin care preparations for curing acne, eczema and fungal infections.
