Specialty Enzymes Supports World Down’s Syndrome Day 2010

Nashik, India (March 21, 2010):  Vic Rathi, president of Specialty Enzymes and Biotechnologies Co., recently took part in festivities in support of World Down’s Syndrome Day 2010.  Every March 21st, World Down Syndrome Day is held to increase awareness about Down’s Syndrome and the challenges that children face who are born with this condition.  Children with Down’s Syndrome carry an extra chromosome in addition to the two chromosomes that most people have.

“We are happy to support all the programs of the Down’s Syndrome Care Association,” said Mr. Rathi.  “While Down’s Syndrome is a serious condition, we can make a difference in the lives of these children as well as their families.”

  Dr. D. K. Chopade, president of the Down’s Syndrome Care Association, presided over the program which included an Entertainment program, an Interactive Session Lunch, a Down Syndrome Poster and Photo Exhibition, as well as a Health Check-Up Camp for children and parents.  Specialty Enzymes and Biotechnologies, through its foundation, was a major sponsor of the program.

As a national organization, the Down’s Syndrome Care Association routinely helps increase awareness of the disorder, provides support to families of children with Down’s Syndrome, and creates social opportunities as well for those affected.  It is estimated that 60 children are born with Down’s Syndrome every day in India.
